Savage Skull, Savage Brain, Savage Thoughts, Savage Scribbles

In avoidance of doing things that I should be doing (like cleaning my apartment), I compiled a book of my cartoons (many of them appeared in the comix zines I've done over the years), uploaded it to Lulu and ordered a sample copy. Not too bad for a day's work. And of course, as soon as I complete the order, I remember some other cartoons that should've been included. I'll add them before I make the book available to the public. The test print I ordered clocks in at 292 pages, black and white. It'll probably retail for around $15.

The Arts and Innards of Russell U. Richards

I've been a fan of Russell Richards for the past 5 years or so. I've wanted to buy some of his art for awhile now, but it's a bit too pricey for my budget. He recently published a book through an on-demand service. Although more expensive than a book like it should be, it was affordable. And worth it. Lot of insight into his work and life.

Check out his work.

And buy his book.

Let The Black Light Shine

I just finished compiling art for a black light test print. I'm going through an on-demand print place that adds some sort of light sensitive additive to ink jet inks. My first test came out pretty well, but some of the colors weren't as vibrant as I'd like. This time around, I'm leaving the art in RGB mode and using more vibrant colors. Now all I have to do is place the order and await the results...

OH NO!

This is the 500th post on Goonhead Patrol! It coincides pretty well with my layoff, and rethinking what I want to do with my life. It may just be time for me to really make a big push and make Savage Monsters the company that I've always wanted it to be. Just have to figure out how to make it happen. Maybe take on a partner. Or an employee to take care of business strategy, marketing and all the crap that I'm bad at.

Now Accepting and Submitting Job Applications

Just as I was reviving my search for an intern, I got laid off. So now I'll have more time to spend on Savage Monsters. And I'll be submitting some job applications of my own instead of taking intern applications.

Apartamento Exotico

You know you've made a good move when the pizza delivery guy says that the new apartment is much nicer than the old one. And it's been a busy day at the new Secret Lair. The cable guy and gas guy both came. I ended up getting an Airport Extreme for my internet connection, which so far, I love. The gas guy found a crack in my heater, so it needs to be fixed before it can be turned on. The landlord's maintenance guy came over to look at it. He saw all my stuff and asked if I'm an artist. Then he seemed surprised that I am an artist. A short discussion of vintage movie posters followed. What a day. I can't wait until I'm finally done moving.
